This has seen me shapeshift through various archetypes exploring ways to best do that. It used to be more warrior, now it’s more creative, here’s what happened along the way… In my teens and 20s I explored the archetypes of activist, entrepreneur and educator teaching children in Brazil; by setting up eco-initiatives as a Sabbatical Officer at Sussex Students’ Union; co-founding and subsequently teaching young adults community enterprise at Edventure:Frome; through my masters in sustainability at Forum for the Future and sailing a modern-day pirate ship from Holland to Brazil exploring alternatives to flying and trading under sail, and bringing community-building initiatives from Brazil back to the UK. In my late 20s I experienced a big initiation catalysed by the sudden death of my father, finding plant medicines and beginning to hold psilocybin-assisted retreats that set me on a path of spirituality and healing. I went from being out there in the world, to a right of passage into the underworld. At the same time I was invited to join the pioneering psilocybin-assisted retreats programme at the UK Psychedelic Society, before co-founding Alalaho as an evolution of this work. Alongside holding space, I was fortunate to find wonderful teachers and mentors along the way, and in particular deepen my spiritual path in Afro-Brazilian rhythms, music and ceremony. Whilst plant medicines opened me up to connecting with life and death in big and profound ways, I’ve had to learn the art of integrating these peak experiences, which led me to explore nature connection practices, vision-quests and plant dietas, before eventually studying and qualifying as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist. This practice more than anything has brought to light the role of the body as fundamental truth-sayer in healing processes and the art of listening to the body and to life, on a subtler level. Having moved around for much of my life, I’ve spent the last four years deepening roots on Dartmoor in Devon and slowing down my pace of life. Cocooned in a cottage next to the river Teign, I’ve been discovering the archetype of creative, exploring this way of aligning with a bubbling creative life force, channeling this muse through visual arts, writing, and recording music developed over the years in my ceremonies.
